Stakeholders in the healthcare sector are set for a roundtable discussion to address lack of sustainable healthcare in Nigeria and to proffer solutions to the myriads of challenges faced in the sector.
Stating this in a press briefing in Lagos recently, the Chief Executive Officer, Hygeia Healthcare Maintenance Organisation Ltd, Mr. Obinnia Abajue said the conference, tagged: ‘Sustainable Healthcare, The Road Map’, will focus on challenging hospitals to deliver better care by strengthening their capacity while giving insight into funding solutions.
“The conference will also discuss options for achieving Universal Healthcare Coverage (UCH) as well as optimizing Private Public Partnership (PPP) initiatives to enhance reach to healthcare solutions.
“The conference is a platform we created to support the thinking of healthcare in Nigeria. What we realise is that our goal in helping people access quality healthcare is not what we can do alone but what every Nigerian must play their part in. this requires stakeholders, policy makers, pharmacists and others in the chain to come together to discuss way forward,” he said.
On opportunities of the event, Obinnia noted there will be networking opportunities, which is designed to yield significant impact in healthcare delivery by providing practical solutions and benefits to all stakeholders. “The event will be attended by major players from every stakeholder group in the Nigerian healthcare space, represented by the public and private sectors” he added.
Special guests expected to grace the event include; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Dr. Olajide Idris; Chairperson , National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Board, Dr. Enyantu Ifenne; the Executive Director, CEO, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib and the Director General, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Peju Adenusi.
Over 300 participants and over 1000 exhibition visitors are expected at the event.
